Learning, CPD, professional registration and competence
Introduction
This policy applies to all employees; assignment and professional requirements apply acording to role and sector.
My Wallet and optional learning
Eligible employees have access through My Wallet to available benefits and learning. The general library, including optional CPD and flipped/self-directed learning, is not mandatory merely because a course is available. Availability changes.
Required training
PGS, agency, hirer, law, professional body or assignment may require training or competence before duties. Examples include safeguarding children, safeguarding adults, clinical/infection control, driver or machinery authorisation, data protection, cyber security, equality and H&S.
Mandatory training required by PGS or the assignment is treated as working time and paid or otherwise handled according to law, assignment and responsibility allocation. Approved necessary expenses follow section 49.
Records and expiry
The portal may record course, provider, due date, completion, CPD hours, certificate, verification and expiry. Individuals keep registrations, licences, DBS and certificates current and notify restrictions or investigations affecting the role.
External development and repayment
Optional external qualifications, study or exam support require approval. A repayment obligation must be separately agreed in writing before cost, proportionate and permit only lawful deductions. Statutory or assignment-mandatory training is not disguised as personal optional cost.
Competence and stop-work
No individual should undertake a task outside competence or professional scope. Missing certificates, inadequate induction or unsafe requests must be raised before work continues. PGS may remove duties while competence or registration is checked without treating the check as disciplinary guilt.
