Assignment endings, notice, redundancy and termination

Introduction

This policy applies to all employees; assingment-end provisions apply to contingent workers.

Assignment end and continuing employment

The hirer or agency ending an assignment does not automatically terminate employment with PGS. The legal employer considers contract, alternative assignments, availability, pay, notice, conduct, capability and redundancy. The worker remains in reasonable contact and cooperates with reassignment where required.

Notice and resignation

Notice requirements are in the contract. Notice should be written through the approved route and receipt confirmed. PGS may require normal work, alternative duties, handover, leave, garden leave or payment in lieu only where contract and law permit.

Redundancy and consultation

A genuine redundancy situation is assessed by the legal employer. PGS consults where required, identifies an appropriate pool/criteria, considers suitable alternatives and applies family-leave priority rights. Ending one client placement is not automatically redundancy if the model provides other work.

Final pay and property

Final pay normally includes contractual pay to termination, approved expenses and holiday due, less lawful deductions. PGS issues final payslip and tax document. All property, data, keys, credentials and records must be returned or securely deleted.

References and continuing duties

Only authorised personnel issue references. Confidentiality, privacy, IP and lawful restrictions continue. Former staff must not represent that they remain authorised.

2027 dismissal changes

The unfair-dismissal qualifying period is scheduled to reduce to six months for dismissals effective from 1 January 2027, with further compensation and fire-and-rehire changes. PGS applies rules only from legal commencement and updates procedures as regulations are finalised.
